I’ve been working with Alex and Elise for a little over a year now, and it would be an understatement to say that they have changed my life.

A few years ago, I had a craniotomy that left me with extremely poor balance and depth perception, as well as a whole host of autoimmune issues due to my subsequent antibiotic usage to prevent post-surgery infection; ironically, I was getting 3+ bacterial infections a year in the aftermath. My hippocampus and my kidneys had been completely fried, and I was constantly compromised by illness and constantly fatigued. I was sort of at a loss as to how to move forward.

Since working out with Elise, my life has genuinely become infinitely easier. There is so much I couldn’t do before that I am able to do now.
For years, I struggled with basic tasks that required balance or depth perception: lifting boxes and bags, playing any kind of sport, even walking in a straight line sometimes. Never in my life has it been easier to MOVE. Elise has always been empathetic to and ultra-aware of my struggles, and the plan that she’s put me on reflects that. I’ve improved immensely as a result. I can run distances, climb inclines, hike and throw without tripping, losing my balance, or completely missing my mark. If you have a working brain, you have no idea how bad your aim can be.

A diet plan isn’t necessary with Atvolve, but I elected for it with the hope that it could help with my immune issues. It absolutely has. I get sick less often, and my illnesses are far less debilitating. More than that, I actually enjoy it. They provide structure without removing joy.

I feel better than I ever have. My training with Elise has not only improved my physical health, but my mental health. On gym days, I wake up excited to work with her and glad to be in my body.

I couldn’t recommend Atvolve enough. If you’re hesitant to make a change, don’t be. I can guarantee it will be for the better.

I started working with Elise in the spring/summer of 2024. To say I had complex needs was an understatement. On one hand I was dealing with a series of chronic illnesses I had little to no understanding/ control of. But I was also a ballet dancer trying to return to her previous career, before illness and injury. I needed to be pushed for my career, but I also needed someone who understood how hyper mobility, chronic fatigue and chronic pain impacts a body. I needed someone who understood the "dancer brain" as well as an understanding of the complex physical needs for my sport.

Color me surprised when Alex randomly reached out to me when I made a desperate post on reddit, mentioning that she had a trainer who was not only a dancer but specifically works with people with different mobility needs. Little did I know working with Elise and Alex would be the key piece to what I needed to get back on track.


I went from being exhausted by a 10 min walk to taking on an intense 5 workouts a week schedule. Elise and Alex are just a wealth of knowledge. I have come to them with complex problems and they've been able to help work me through it.

Elise is an incredible trainer. She is so good at knowing when to push you and when to take a step back. She knows how to cue in a way that just clicks in your brain. Her dry sense of humor and absolute enthusiasm when you reach a goal can keep you going. Her approach to training is intelligent and intuitive. I would say working with Elise you can see that she draws on lived experience and has the intellectual curiosity to back it up.

Alex is everything I could ask for in a trainer. I have a significant limitation with one of my feet and she finds creative ways to work around the limitation and continuously makes me feel challenged and engaged. Working with Alex has also helped me build strength and learn stretches to significantly reduce the impact that the foot injury has had on my everyday life. She has even made stretching videos and sent them to me on the spot when I have texted her about pain or discomfort. The stretching and strength has been so much better than physical therapy, and the personalization has helped me avoid injury and feel better about myself. When we don’t work out in person, she uses a cool app that includes videos and timers to let me work out on my own. Most importantly, she helped me develop an awesome back that I got to show off in my wedding dress!​

One of the things I value so much about Alex is she will meet you where you are. Whether it's helping you do some rehab so you can run again (thanks achilles tendonitis), strengthen your hips and core to remove lower back pain (thanks sitting all day), or just adapting a session on the spot to meet you where your energy level is at (thanks life), she can do it all and with a smile. She also is super open to feedback on what is working and not and partners with you to build an exercise program (and lifestyle) that meets your goals and evolves as you need/want it to.

I started working with Alex in January 2024. I was sedentary with chaotic food habits. In our first 3 months, I focused on small but progressive and sustainable changes. Then a friend asked me to hike the Inka Trail…leaving only 5 months later.  Alex didn’t flinch when I told her that I wanted to complete the 4 day, 26 mile hike with significant elevation gain. Alex created an amazing pre-hike training plan that fully prepared me to complete the hike without allowing “training” to consume my entire life. She balanced cardio and strength and stairs in a variety of workouts and activities that allowed me to still have a personal and social life and never become bored - she was an amazing mental coach.  In September, I completed the hike. It’s still a tough trail but her training paid off and I was able to enjoy the hike, not just survive it. Thank you, Alex!​

I've been working with Alex for over a year now. I'm 48, and despite trying my own routines, joining gyms, and even working with a trainer live in a gym this is the first time I've been able to stick with a consistent workout. It's also one of the only times I've been able to make a significant, and so far consistent, change in my diet and see those results.

 

We do two live sessions per week and I do two that Alex sets up for me in the app. We also talk about nutrition and diet and how that relates to exercise and how to use the two together to get results. The app Alex uses is great - it narrates the workout and makes it easy to record. Knowing someone else is watching and tracking my workout and that we’ll talk about it next session has kept me consistent. I’ve definitely noticed changes in my body and people have noticed and commented. I’ve noticed a positive change in my mental health as well. Knowing more about how food affects my body and my workouts has helped me make better choices about what I eat.

 

I’ve appreciated how Alex is flexible and creative with the workouts. She uses what I have available to me and has recommended some minimal equipment when I haven’t had it. She’s been able to change workouts when I have access to a gym, or tailor workouts when I’ve been off camping and hiking. We started with simple movements and lower weights or body weight, and I’m now maxing out my weights on some moves, which feels amazing. She’s slowly, successfully nudged me into doing more than I thought I’d be able to. She’s laid back and keeps the in-person workouts both challenging and fun. I look forward to each one.
